A&E Studios is said to be developing a US version of the successful Flemish TV series Clan, according to Variety magazine. A co-production between A&E Studios and eOne, Clan focuses on five sisters known as the Murphy girls who swear a pact to protect one another from harm.
In this dark comedy, the close bond is broken after a sadistic man marries one of the girls. The other four end up murdering him, which leads them into a dangerous criminal underworld.
The Flemish company Caviar, which developed the original series, has already signed a script development deal with eOne and A&E, according to a press statement released by the Flemish Audiovisual Fund VAF. The hour-long US remake will be written by Steve Blackman, who has already scripted episodes of popular series such as Bones and Private Practice.
The original VTM series was written by Malin-Sarah Gozin. “I am really happy at the news,” she said.
